The project named GIVE (Growth and Inspiration through Volunteering and Empowerment) was held in local NGO centre and it focuses on volunteering from the perspective of both the NGO and the volunteers. Project aims to provide youth workers and active volunteers with the tools and skills to work with young people. Activities was oriented to review and improve the competence of participants in volunteer management. The training course included a balanced program with various activities based on non-formal education methods focused at intercultural education, thus developing a proactive approach to life and basic skills, empowering the participants of the project.
The participants came from 8 European countries – the Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and the UK - shared the differences between volunteering systems and perceptions in their countries in country presentations. The volunteer management and recruitment was also discussed and the participants created 4 virtual NGOs with own agendas in order to demonstrate in practice what they have learned. During Toastmasters presentation the argumentation and presentation skills were practised and informal learning was supported by the series of games, presentations and other activities. Intercultural education developed a proactive approach to life and provided the empowerment of basic skills in volunteering work and work with youth.
The intercultural evening let the participants to share interesting facts about their country, as well as their traditional beverages, food and dances. During the day off the participants visited western Latvia – Jurkalnes Beach, Kuldiga and Jaunmoku Castle.

After arrival from Riga kindly shared their experiences skills gained in the GIVE project with local sending NGO VULCANICAMENTE, mentioning how useful it was this project for them. They met other participants from Europe and learned more about about other countries and Latvia, but in particular they gained more knowledge on the volunteers management that is very relevant for VulcanicaMente. VulcanicaMente has local and European volunteers so sharing this experience was very enriching from a professional point of view and as personal growth for the Italian team.
